Not sure if anyone else got any notification in regards to a vote that was taken by the IERA in regards to a rules change to allow 2 races that were not AMA sanctioned in as part of the series. Evidently one individual from EITT decided to represent us all and cast his vote...A vote which wasn't approved by the members.
If we are going to be a club then we need to keep in mind we are club of many people and not just a couple of individuals.
Here is the e-mail I was sent about the proposed rule change which I'm in favor of despite the "no" vote that was cast.
I wanted to let you know about the rewording of an IERA rule that I would like to hear the view of the EITT membership.
We have voted this year to include two non AMA events and pay IERA points for them. They are an OMA national in Memphis MO and an outlaw hare scramble in Ft. Dodge, IA
I was looking through our IERA rules and I found a rule that will need to be reworded to include these events.
Original rule;
All competitors (AA, A, B, C and Mini classes) must belong to the AMA.
The sponsoring club must carry liability insurance for each event through an AMA recognized insurance company.
All clubs at IERA events will enforce AMA membership.
Revised rule;
All competitors at IERA sanctioned events competing for IERA D22 points must belong to the AMA and IERA D22
If the sponsoring club is not an AMA chartered club they must carry liability insurance for each event comparable to the insurance required by AMA chartered clubs to host an event
All AMA clubs hosting IERA events will enforce AMA membership and all clubs shall provide AMA & IERA D22 registration forms at sign up.
It is no big deal but we would like to make sure that everyone agrees with the new wording. If you could contact the EITT club members and get their vote on this issue and get back to me I would appreciate it. The Ft. Dodge race is on May 2nd so we need input quickly.
I'll be sure to bring this up at our next club meeting that any vote that is cast that represents our club as one needs to be brought to all our attention via e-mail., phone calls and a posting in here. Casting a vote for the club without talking to the members first simply is not exceptable.
